That pretty much sums it up. Can't say too much without stepping in it. As far as the siren's go, I figure it was a lack of communication - where I don't know - and if I did I wouldn't tell :). 911 wasn't lax on getting the radio's fixed - sometimes these things take longer than we care to think about. Last year when we were struck by lightening on Feb 1st - it took till we were in the new building to have everything up and running right again.
All I really want to say on the matter is this - and keep in mind, if I didn't work where I work or have the parent's I have I would still think this:
If you were outside watching the damn tornado and/or taking pictures - then don't bitch because the siren didn't go off. That siren is a precaution - just like the beeps on the tv. What made everybody go outside to watch? DUH! The warnings on the television. It is hypocritical of someone to complain because the siren didn't work if they were outside gawking anyway (or inside gawking like me). If you were taking cover and not putting your life in danger by not doing so, then complain, raise the roof - its cool - I get that.
Everyone did the best they could with the situation at hand. That is all I can say.
And hey - I was standing at my front door taking pictures - siren or not.
