Well, I guess I think that if the schools are going to put concrete somewhere, lets start with the elementary schools. Those lots are rough on vehicles, since some of the potholes are the size of my car, it can be tough navigating through them.
And the elections? Well, I can't say I was surprised. I thought maybe the sheriff's race would be closer, but then again, so many people in this county talk out of both sides of the mouth, I shouldn't be. I hoped to see the Western District come out differently too.
Back to the school.....two resignations in a month....WOW!!!! I can't believe it. I wonder who will want the positions? I for one, do not. I don't think I'd even be considered if I wrote a letter. Maybe I should just to see if they would consider me....ha ha ha.
Remember to vote in November!!! I am painfully scared of what is going to happen - no matter what the results.
I have to stop and think....but who was on the council at the time the flag was stolen? And who was the mayor? It may have been the current one, but I am not sure....my memory can tell me what happenened - but I am not good at the when.
Hey I must not have the right connections....I been trying for months to get just one load of gravel on the little lane to my house. Who do I need to talk to? And then I'll gladly confirm it!!! You'll hear me jump for joy if I come home to a gravelled driveway....

June 11--Someone just posted a comment on another blog saying he or she didn't consider The Walrus to be "credible." Did this person not read the disclaimer? Do they not know the difference between fact and opinion? Opinion is just that--opinion. It's not meant to be fact, nor is it necessarily presented as anything other than opinion. Sheesh! Not-so-Gentle Reader, my advice is Get a dictionary!
Lying or stirring.....take your pick. I can tell you this - the Center siren was "down" - at the 911 center. I don't know where the city clerk got her information that 911 just didn't push the button, but that would be wrong!!!! I am not going into mismanagement issues - thats not my cup of tea. The RCHE article was slanted last week and I said it myself - maybe it was me he was talking about - like I care. He didn't call anyone at 911 and ask for their side of the story and maybe - don't quote me because I didn't make the comments to the other "fuzzy wuzzy" reporter - they got the story because they called and asked for a comment. DUH!!!!! I see a lot of CYA going on and I am not going to point fingers, but maybe some reporters just need to let it drop. Everybody else has. If Mr. Gene "The Sunshine Law" Statler wants to get to the bottom of it all and have a real story, start asking the right people the right questions and demand answers and write a real news story - not some slanted article.
Questions to be asked and answered (In my opinion):
1. Why wasn't the siren working and when did the problem occur?
2. Were actions being taken to repair the siren?
3. Were the cities (New London's siren was inoperable from 911 too) notified?
4. Why was New London able to manually set off the siren but not Center?
5. Is there really only one person or entity to point a finger at or was the ball dropped all the way around?
And now, all I will say, is that while Mr. Statler says he has no problem with 911 or anyone involved - his previous statements make me think he may be fibbing an eensy weensy bit.
And I want to know, who are the law enforcement, first responders and fireman complaining about? Dispatchers or administation? Big difference there.
"Actually, Center has a pretty good policeman. Better than most the past 10 years. He will actually write a ticket! I've seen fines posted in the county newspaper that have been collected for speeding, running stop signs, etc. I believe he is paying his way and actually doing something other than sitting on his ass at city hall. "
That pretty much sums it up for me. I don't really care where he lives or if he drives the car back and forth - he is doing more generating revenue than any other cop the city has had in most of my lifetime. So whatever, people want to bitch, they are going to bitch and it doesn't matter what they bitch about. If it isn't the cop car it'll be the grass in the park is too high.
I didn't hear it quite that way. I think that John Doe did in fact take the boy to the gas station across the road and the whole time he was transporting him, the boy was on the phone to his mommy. I heard Mommy showed up at the gas station with a ball bat ready to go after John Doe. I think she pretty much proved to everyone just what kind of mother she was. Especially when she persisted in pressing charges after finding out why John Doe had done what he had done.
Thank you Gadfly for showing John Doe support!!!! Maybe we should start a fund to help pay his fine!!!!! I can think of a few who would probably donate.
So today I did it. I told her that I just couldn't do this anymore. I told her it was nothing personal, I just can't afford it anymore - and she is ok with it. I guess I was just borrowing trouble thinking she was going to have a fit. Of course, I haven't seen her face to face yet, but I think she had to have an idea this was coming.
That sounds like a really good idea. I think I'll pass it on. It would make things so much easier on the city council. Lets wait and see what the next city council meeting brings.
